Welcome to Pieces by Pie! I’m here to answer some of the common questions I receive about my shop.
What date/time are your shop updates?
My shop updates are ALWAYS on Saturdays at 6 pm pst.
This doesn't mean every Saturday I have an update, but it's always good to check my shop on Saturday around noon to see what pieces are "Coming Soon"
My Twitter is the most reliable place to find info on the next upcoming update (Though I warn you, I tend to fly by the seat of my pants and post sporadically)
Do you take commissions?
Unfortunately no :(
The only items available for purchase are my preset designs. However, I am always open to suggestions and I love when my supporters tag me in or send me things they feel would match my style well! It makes me happy to see y’all thinking of me~
Can I pre-pay for or reserve an item from an update ahead of time?
No.
All sales are conducted via my website. This is both to ensure fair access for all my customers, and to make filing taxes easier for me :)
You sell out really fast sometimes, do you have any tips for checking out?
Yes!
First, Apple Pay is the most reliable way to quickly checkout on my website. I would recommend enabling it if you can.
Second, if you’re looking to get multiple items it might be best to make separate purchases. This way you can at least get one safely.
Can you combine multiple orders for me?
Yes!
If you made several separate purchases for an update, send me an email via my Contact Page with your order numbers. I will refund your extra shipping and combine your orders into one package.
Better for your wallet and the environment :)
Do you restock old designs?
Yes!
Most items in my shop will return for several updates, and I often bring back older designs several months later. Especially if there is a high demand for a design, I will do my best to meet it.
Are your pieces hypoallergenic?
Yes!
I only use stainless steel or gold-plated stainless steel findings for my pieces, which is considered hypoallergenic for most people.
However, steel can contain trace amounts of nickel, so if you are specifically allergic to that metal be careful.
Can I request you switch the metal on my earrings? E.g. the picture/description shows stainless steel but I'd like gold?
No.
My earrings come as listed. They're made in small batches according to what I have in stock. In addition, many of my designs require me baking an eye pin into the clay, thus rendering the colors inexchangeable.
Are your pieces heavy? How much do they weigh?
I always tell people that my pieces are lighter than you’d expect for the size. Fun fact, but polymer clay actually gets lighter as it bakes!
Most of my pieces weigh somewhere between .2-.5 ounces, which is not super heavy. For reference, even my heaviest pieces are comparable to the weight of a few coins or a tube of chapstick.
I’d say that rather than the weight reminding you that you’re wearing my earrings, you might notice some of the bigger pairs brushing against your jaw/neck as you move around. If this seems like it might be a sensory issue for you, I’d recommend staying away from my dangly pieces hanging on french hooks, and sticking to pairs made with ball-post studs.
Do you ship outside of the USA/Canada? Do you plan on shipping other places soon?
For now, the answer is no.
I’m so grateful for the kind comments and inquiries I receive from people around the world, but shipping has been unreliable for me even in my home country. Right now I am really only comfortable shipping to the USA/Canada.
